Preserving the Record of Kansas Ultrarunning

Search a dedicated Kansas ultrarunning database built to connect runners, races, editions, and verified performances in one place. Broader sources such as DUV, UltraSignup, and Ultrarunning Magazine contain important pieces of the record; this archive organizes those records specifically around Kansas, making it possible to move from an individual runner to race histories, edition results, and connected performances.

The Foundation turns scattered historical data into a searchable public record built from documented sources. Results are preserved with provenance so they can be searched, cross-referenced, corrected, and expanded over time, while the relationships among runners, races, organizations, and events remain visible. The result supports both historical preservation and practical research across decades of Kansas ultrarunning.

How the Archive Works

Source
The archive begins with documented source material: official race results, timer records, newspapers, publications, race documents, photographs, and other historical records. These sources provide the evidence used to establish or support a runner, race, edition, organization, or historical event.
Verify
Source material is reviewed for runner identity, race edition, distance, result status, and provenance. Where sources conflict or are incomplete, records are reconciled before inclusion. The verified-results database does not rely on unsupported self-reporting.
Connect
Verified records are structured so runners, races, editions, organizations, and historical context connect to one another. That structure lets users move from an individual performance to the surrounding race history and broader Kansas ultrarunning record.
Preserve
Once documented, verified, and connected, records become part of a searchable public archive designed to remain correctable and expandable over time. Citations, provenance, corrections, and historical context are preserved so future researchers can understand not just the result, but the evidence behind it.
